Your Blogging Type Is the Private Performer

Your blog is your stage - with your visitors your adoring fans.
At least, that’s how you write with your witty one liners.
And while you like attention, you value your privacy.

Freaked out by facebook

Filed under: Life — Jen @ 11:59 pm

I’m sure I’m not the only person to be 100% freaked out by the phenomenon that is facebook. Friends Reunited - fine; Ttwitter - fine; MySpace - fine; but facebook is just too freaky. I am tagging people that I haven’t seen since High School, Uni and previous jobs that I haven’t spoken to in years. And, quite frankly, if we haven’t spoken in years, surely that was for a reason?! The more time I spend on it, the more friends I find, and subsequently find out what they are up to. It feels like school all over again. Am I good enough? Does my picture portray the image I want to put across? Do I have enough friends? Have I done enough since I was last in touch?

Sod it. I went to see Keane with my sister. They weren’t as good as they were at Ally Pally or Wembley. I am glad to be home.

Yo-yo

Filed under: Orla Kiely, crafts — Jen @ 10:21 am

So I finally had some time to try and make a yo-yo. I bought three different varieties and sizes so I could make both regular round ones and flower shaped ones. The Clover Yo-yo maker is kind of cool but the instructions were obviously translated from Japanese and a little hard to follow, especially at the end. My first one didn’t turn out too badly though, made out of some Orla Kiely fabric. Any advice on securing the thread gratefully received!

Home at last!

Filed under: holidays, shopping — Jen @ 9:08 pm

Hooray, home at last after an epic journey. We spent yesterday wandering around Cowes (another of my favourite towns on the Island) in the beautiful sunshine. I’m so happy that the weather was mainly good during our week away! Anyway, visiting Cowes gave me the opportunity to see if my favourite shop had any new things to buy. Luckily it did and I came away with a bag of stuff to fit in the remaining small hole in the car. Paper lanterns for our garden, beautiful girly pink stickers (for no purpose other than I liked them), candle holders for our dining room and a present for my little niece next time I see her.
Then back on the ferry to Southampton and an overnight stay with some friends before heading off to the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford and meeting up with more friends. I have had my fill of planes and do not wish to see any more this year!

Sunny days

Filed under: eating out, holidays — Jen @ 10:29 pm

The weather was gorgeous today, warm and sunny all day long. We made the most of it by spending all day out and about. First, we walked around Ryde, which must be my second favourite town on the Isle of Wight. Then we headed over to St Helen’s and had lunch with my sister at Baywatch on the Beach - a great restaurant serving delicious food which overlooks the Solent - so something nice to look at and lots of people to watch.

Later on we drove down to Sandown where I tried to push back all the hideous memories of High School and concentrated on winning (unsuccessfully) soft toys at the crappy amusement arcade. With my money gone we drove up to Culver Down where we ate ice-cream and admired the views.

Having spent a couple of hours at Calbourne Mill yesterday feeding the ducks, geese, pigeons and fish, driving along the Military Road, checking out Shrek 3 and the latest Harry Potter film, I think we have exhausted our list of things to do this holiday.

Perhaps too late for us (until next time) I have just happened upon this great little blog. Matt & Cat visit and comment on meals out on the Island. A must read next time we plan a meal out. [Perhaps I should bring it to my mums attention so we don't have to eat at Ponda Rosa again.]
