Our theme has really come together over the last few weeks which I am so pleased about. We did some more wedding related shopping this weekend. We bought our lovely platinum wedding bands, I went shopping with my matron of honour for her dress and we chose the suits for the men. I’m hoping I can start to relax soon and enjoy the run up to the big day. Not long now - only 54 days!
We’ve been incredibly busy organising our wedding over the last few weeks. We set a date, booked a Church and reception venue, and finally ordered the invites and associated stationery. Who knew that getting married could be so exhausting? Practically every day a decision has to be made. We’ve picked a great theme to hold the day together and we’ve roped in my mum to help us source objects. All will be revealed!
I couldn’t help but play with this, found here.

And finally (bit of a long post for me today!) I’ve found a new swap to make a robot. I really want to join in but just don’t know if I should be committing to anything other than our wedding at the moment.
I really want to make our own invitations for our wedding. My heart sank when my mum mentioned she had been looking at embossed invites and I quickly jumped in and told her we’d been thinking about using our own photographs through moo.com to send out save the date cards, invites and RSVPs. So last week we had a trial run and ordered a pack of postcards and notecards using our favourite images and I love them. We can put our own text on the back, they are simple, and best of all personal! I’ve come to realise that most of our wedding day will be about pleasing other people (especially my mum!). We want to put our own stamp of individuality on our wedding and this seems the easiest way. Now we just need to pick the images as I don’t want to send out invites with a picture of a sock monkey!
It’s just such strange weather for June, windy, windy and windy, especially on our little island off the south coast of England.

I spent the morning trying on wedding dresses, which was both traumatic and strangely fun. I’ve been adamant all along that I don’t want to wear some white meringue monstrosity. Sure enough the first dress shop I went to tried squeezing me into dresses which I hated. The second dress shop was the opposite and let me try on what I wanted. Altogether I only tried on six dresses before I found the perfect dress. Hooray. We spent the rest of the day driving around looking at reception venues. We haven’t found anything which we’ve both agreed on so far.
Is it right to have a dress before a venue?
In tacky wedding news we don’t yet have a date but we do have a countdown clock and it’s wonderfully kitsch.

We’re currently on the Isle of Wight looking at more venues and re-visiting a couple of favourite venues. I’m experiencing the full horror of dress appointments tomorrow! Wish me luck.
