Look what I won!

I was lucky enough to win a copy of Green is the New Black in a giveaway on the Make London blog the other week. The book arrived today and looks great so it is packed in my Orla Kiely weekend bag. Monday is our three year anniversary so I’m ready to be whisked off for a romantic break in Bruges, just waiting for the boyfriend to come and get me. Included with the book were some discount vouchers for the first workshop I book at the make lounge, so I will be looking for courses as soon as I get back!

Also packed are my knitting and my half finished Stanley dog, just in case I have any spare time between drinking Belgium beer and looking for some vintage shops.

Knitting and Stitching Show

I managed to complete the application I had been working on all year and submit it on Friday. It felt like a complete anti-climax but I celebrated by heading off to the pub after work for a large glass of wine or two. On Saturday we visited Tate Modern to see the latest installation in the Turbine Hall. The work was by Doris Salcedo and was basically a large chasm in the floor, running from one end to the other. I didn’t think it was very special and it was actually more fun watching people’s response to it. Then we wandered over to the Imperial War Museum to see the Weapons of Mass Communication exhibition.
Today I headed up to Ally Pally to the Knitting and Stitching Show which was great (but so expensive!). This was my first craft show and I loved it. I saw so much inspirational stuff and picked up an innocent smoothie hat kit to kick start my knitting, a felt flowers kit (I’ve always wanted to have a go at felting) and some lovely embellishments for Christmas presents I must start working on soon. My mum has put the fear of god into me by talking about making Christmas cakes so I have already started my Christmas shopping! I also bought a guide to the work of Julie Arkell which I am really enjoying at the moment. I can’t wait for next year! And I finally quilted the dolls quilt I’ve been working on. It doesn’t feel like mine anymore so I am looking forward to sending it to it’s new home tomorrow.

A postcard- sadly the only piece of Julie Arkells’ work I’ll ever own!
